Miles for Change is a 3.3-mile walk dedicated to Sima and Dylan Pariseau, as well as all victims and survivors of domestic violence. All proceeds of Miles for Change will go directly to the YWCA of Western Massachusetts, supporting their domestic violence program. Sima and Dylan were tragically killed on June 16, 2024, in an act of domestic violence, and the two of them would want nothing more than to aid those in need. As family members and friends of Sima and Dylan, we wanted to find a way to carry on their legacy by helping others who have gone through, or are going through similar situations. When you are signing up for Miles for Change, your contribution is playing a direct role in helping the life of a domestic violence survivor in need.

You may have noticed that this is not your typical 3.2-mile 5k. Miles for Change is a 3.3-mile specific walk with a $33 admission in order to highlight the significance of the number 33, Dylan's baseball number, one of his greatest passions.

This walk is not just about honoring Sima and Dylan Pariseau—it’s about showing survivors that they are not alone, and that there is help available. By donating and/or participating in Miles for Change, your contribution can play an essential role in supporting those who are in need of safety, support, and resources. You can provide a lifeline for someone who might be struggling in silence.

Why Your Support Matters

Mother and son, Sima and Dylan, had an unbreakable bond that has shown to be everlasting, even in their deaths. Domestic violence affects millions of people each year - in fact, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. Many of these victims and survivors suffering in silence, with nowhere to turn for help. By supporting Miles for Change, you’re helping to provide that crucial support and raise awareness to end the cycle of violence. This walk is not just about honoring Sima and Dylan Pariseau—it’s about showing victims that they are not alone, and that there is help available.

Sima:

At 56, Sima had built a life full of happiness, achievements, and love. She raised two incredible children, her greatest accomplishments. She also traveled, volunteered as a CASA for foster youth, served on the Board of Trustees at St. Gregory’s Armenian Church, worked two jobs she loved, and most proudly, she was a rock to her friends and family members. Most remember Sima by her bright and warm smile, one that was immediately welcoming, even to a stranger. Sima is remembered by her love to walk and run. Throughout her life, Sima was an avid runner, completing a half marathon with her best friend, and many other races along the way. Even if you didn't know Sima, chances are, you have seen her walking down Main Street, perhaps with an ice cream in hand - her favorite treat. But by far, Sima's favorite thing to do was hike with her children, Dylan and Sophie, and her friends and family.

Dylan:

Dylan, or D, as his closest family and friends refer to him, is a vibrant soul who was taken from this world at too early of an age. Dylan was 27 years old at the time of his passing, with 28 just around the corner. He was the biggest cheerleader for everyone in his life; he was the first to tell you he was proud of you or happy for you, and the first to be right there with you for all your greatest achievements. Like Sima, Dylan lived a life full of love. He fostered lifelong friendships, lived in a city he loved, spent his time enraptured by the sports world - one of his greatest forms of happiness (not to mention the sports betting) - and found his passion in a biochemistry career. Dylan lived a life full of laughter shown through his humor, impersonations, and knack for movie quoting. Dylan will be remembered for the happiness and great fervor with which he lived his full life.
